A Hidden Gem Near Rochester, New York

Samantha and Miguel’s summer wedding at The Lockstone in Albion, New York was the perfect mix of heartfelt moments, cultural traditions, and a laid-back summer vibe.

Wolf Cry Productions had the honor of capturing both photo and video, documenting everything from their emotional vows to a high-energy reception filled with meaningful traditions—and a few unexpected (and unforgettable) moments.

A Bright Summer Day at The Lockstone

This wedding came with full summer sun—no clouds, no breaks, just strong, direct light for most of the day. On top of that, the surrounding trees created harsh, uneven shadows that made lighting a constant challenge, especially during the ceremony.

For portraits, we focused on finding shaded areas around the venue to soften the light and keep Samantha and Miguel comfortable. It also helped keep them cool, which made a huge difference in how relaxed and natural they looked throughout the day.

One unique feature of The Lockstone that really stood out—especially for a summer wedding—is the ice cream shop inside the venue. Not only was it a huge hit with guests, but it also ended up being where Samantha and Miguel cut their cake, which made for a fun and memorable twist

Personal Moments You Don’t Forget

There were so many small moments throughout the day that made this wedding feel personal.

Samantha incorporated Spanish into her vows, which added a meaningful touch to the ceremony and reflected Miguel’s heritage in a genuine way.

Later in the night, the reception brought a ton of energy—especially during the money dance, which had guests lining up and completely filling the dance floor.

And one of the best surprises?
Samantha and Miguel brought their dogs to be part of the ceremony. It’s one of those details that’s easy to forget in the moment, but going back through the photos, it ended up being such a fun and meaningful part of their day.

Creative Approach Behind the Scenes

From a photo and video perspective, this day was all about adapting to the conditions.

The biggest focus throughout the day was:

  • Finding consistent shade to avoid harsh shadows
  • Managing tricky green color casts from surrounding trees
  • Keeping skin tones natural across both photo and video
  • Making sure Samantha and Miguel stayed comfortable and stress-free

Because when a couple feels good, it shows in everything.

Golden Hour & Sunset Magic

If the ceremony lighting challenged us a bit, golden hour made up for it tenfold.

Right as the sun started to drop, we stepped out for portraits—and everything lined up perfectly. Soft light, warm tones, and that calm feeling you only get at sunset.

These ended up being some of our favorite images from the entire day.

Wedding Photo Highlights

Once the reception kicked off, it didn’t take long for the energy to shift.

The dance floor stayed packed all night, and one of the standout moments was during their first dance—when Ben lifted Becca mid-song. It was one of those spontaneous-feeling moments that just fit them perfectly.

From there, it turned into a full-on celebration. No holding back, just everyone having a genuinely good time.

Final Thoughts

Samantha and Miguel’s wedding at The Lockstone was a reminder that perfect weddings aren’t about perfect conditions—they’re about real moments.

Between the summer heat, the cultural traditions, their dogs being part of the ceremony, and a reception full of energy (and ice cream), this was a day that felt completely true to them from start to finish.
